TableMaster / RoomDirector · TM-168
How the desk sets up the Epson receipt printer for RoomDirector, allows it once in the browser, and keeps tickets printing through the day.
Set it up once, and it prints by itself. Connect the printer to the room network with a cable, and give it a fixed address in the room's router. Enter that address in RoomDirector under Room Setup, Printer, and press Test print. Allow the browser's request once.
After that, every registration and every rebuy prints its ticket with no extra clicks.
| Item | What |
|---|---|
| Printer | Epson TM-T20IV, Ethernet model |
| Paper | 80 mm thermal paper rolls, 83 mm across at most |
| Network | A network cable from the printer to the room network, the same network as the desk computer |
| Computer | The desk computer, with Google Chrome, signed in to RoomDirector |
| Setup | A manager or above enters the printer address. Desk staff do everything else. |
Connect the printer. Plug in the power cable, and a network cable from the port at the lower back of the printer to the room network. Turn the printer on.
Print its address. Hold down the status sheet button on the back of the printer for 3 seconds. A sheet that starts with “Next Action” prints.
Press the Feed button briefly as many times as the number next to the interface status sheet, then hold Feed down for 1 second. The status sheet prints, with the printer's IP address on it, for example 192.168.1.46.
Keep the address fixed. The printer gets its address from the room's router, and that address can change after a restart. Whoever runs the room network reserves the address for the printer in the router (a DHCP reservation). The router needs the printer's MAC address, which is on a label on the printer.
Enter the address in RoomDirector. On the desk computer, open Room Setup, then Printer. Type the address in Printer address and press Save changes.
Print a test ticket. Press Test print. Chrome asks to let RoomDirector connect to devices on the local network. Choose Allow.
The first ticket after Allow can fail to print. Press Test print again. “Test ticket printed” means the desk is ready.
RoomDirector shows “The ticket did not print” with one of these reasons. The player is still registered: give the player the table and seat from RoomDirector.
| Reason on screen | What to do |
|---|---|
| The printer is out of paper. | Put in a new roll (P1 to P5 below). |
| The printer cover is open. | Close the paper cover firmly. |
| RoomDirector cannot reach the printer. | Check that the printer is on and its network cable is in. Print the status sheet (S2) and check that the address matches the one in Room Setup, Printer. |
| The printer is offline. | Look at the Error light. Close the cover or put in paper. If the light stays on, turn the printer off and on. |
| The printer's cutter is jammed. | Clear the jam (J1 to J4 below). |
| The printer reported an error. | Turn the printer off and on, then press Test print. |
The Paper light on the printer lights when the roll is empty.
Wait until the printer stops. Never open the cover while it prints.
Open the paper cover. Put a finger under the cover knob and lift.
Take out the empty core.
Put in the new roll. If tickets then come out blank, the roll is in backwards: turn it around.
Pull out a little paper and close the cover. Tear off the extra paper on the cutter edge. The edge is sharp.
Never pull jammed paper out. Open the paper cover and lift the paper out.
If the paper cover will not open, the cutter blade is stuck:
Turn off the printer.
Open the cutter cover. Slide it toward the front.
Turn the knob until a triangle shows in the opening. The blade goes back to its place.
Close the cutter cover. The paper cover now opens.

Printing is tested in Google Chrome. Not tested yet: Microsoft Edge on Windows. Not covered: printing from phones, tablets or the kiosk.
